Archery

Historic Saxon Mill set in an area of outstanding natural beauty near the UNESCO world heritage coast in West Dorset. Offering Archery and Log cabin accommodation. Natural gardens include a small lake, ponds, a small river, streams and waterfalls. Lovely walks and crossed by extensive public footpaths and rights of way. Near to award winning thatched village pub with bear garden near a stream offering great food. Only two log cabins spaced far apart offering privacy and a peaceful natural environment and atmosphere. Medieval Longbows

Real wood traditional European Medieval Longbows made famous by the Welsh and English archers during the hundred years war. These dominated the battlefields of Northern Europe during the high Middle Ages. Welsh and Englishmen were comanded by the King to practice their Longbow skills every week usually on Sunday.

Eastern Horse bows

Traditional Wooden Horse bows carried by Attila the Hun who brought the Roman Empire to its knees heralding the sunset of the Ancient world dawn of the dark age and later by the Golden Horde of Genghis Khan and his Mongol armies and as they swept out of the Asian Steppe to lay waste to Europe in the Middle Ages.

The Range

100 meter range that is well maintained. The range is large enough that it can be re orientated to allow for the angle of the sun. The target stands are our own and over-engineered for strength. Free parking. Small groups of between 3-10 archers mean no one has to wait their turn. Larger groups accepted but please call to arrange

Clubhouse, teas, coffees

A small clubhouse sits at one end of the range and offers seating indoors and outside with teas, coffees and snacks and a toilet.

Gear and equipment

All guests will be provided with free quality bows and arrows. The arrows are all either carbon or wood and have real feathers. Gloves, tabs, thumbrings, and arm bracers are provided free in all sizes.

Crossbows

Crossbows are an optional extra. These are available during the session. These crossbows are highend and very powerful so we only allow 3 archers to shoot them at a time.

Throwing Axes

Throwing Axes are an optional extra. These are available during the session. we only allow 3 guests to throw them at a time for safty.
